The creatures that inhabit our oceans have always inspired me; to me they are some of the most striking and awe-inspiring on the planet. Over the years, my curiosity has led me to develop techniques and create pieces that mimic the astounding beauty that can be seen under water. I have also made it my goal to convey my concern for the fate of our world and all of its creatures. The first period “Aquazone” is a marine metaphor. The absence of colour was voluntary. The pieces all being made in either black or white was meant to symbolize life and death. A number of the pieces from this era were made using recycled fishing nets to further emphasize the impact that we are having on the environment.
